Bees: Survival Over Self

Updated: Jan 20, 2021

I love honey bees, and everything about them, even their little stingers fascinate me.

I wonder if they know that they will die if they use it?

I don’t think they have thoughts for Self, only for the survival of their colony.

With that said, I know it must take millions of bees to create the amount of wax used to create Primitive Lights Candles. It makes me love and appreciate them even more. I also appreciate VanCalcar Apiaries where I have sourced my beeswax from for almost 20 years. Nick VanCalcar is a Pollination Farmer. He takes his 7000ish hives to pollinate farmers' trees and fields, ensuring that their crops will produce better. At the end of the day, the wax and honey are just a bonus.

Did you know that  I am also an amature beekeeper?  We currently have 3 hives. They are such beautiful little creatures.

Beekeeping has a special place in my heart. In 1997 when my father had a heart attack and had to quit commercial fishing he was a mess and needed a hobby. My husband and father and I all had interest in keeping bees. I think back when my dad grew up on a farm in Minnesota most people kept them. So we all took a week long beekeeping class in portland. I was thinking it would be great to have our own honey, pollinate our garden and maybe do some crafts with the wax.

Fast forward to now, I have finally found a wonderful honey fragrance that I feel is very close to the real thing. I was in love when I received the sample of it and I knew I had to bring it into the line.  It makes me feel good to share the unmistakable scent of Honey with everyone.

I hope you enjoy my Honey collection! View it HERE

It is such a sweet reminder of those who made it all possible, THE BEES!
